The Twist Fund is a start-up philanthropic organization supporting progressive grassroots change throughout Texas and Oklahoma.
Twist’s primary goal is to strengthen progressive groups in Oklahoma and Texas, helping them to lead, grow and make meaningful change in their communities.
There are many ways you can join Twist in supporting community organizing and grassroots change in Texas and Oklahoma.
Founder’s Note
Welcome to the Twist website! Here’s the quick run down from me, Emily, the founder.
1) Where did Twist come from?
Twist was born out of my personal desire to try and invest the financial resources I have been generously given to effect change in the world. I am, in the language of current culture, a “trust fund baby.” I would, of course, prefer to re-title myself a blessed person with a unique set of life challenges around meaning and purpose. If you can come up with a catch phrase for that, let me know. As a wise friend of mine once said, “You don’t deserve it, but you also don’t NOT deserve it.” I reflect one end of the unfair, confusing world we live in. Twist is inspired by many other philanthropic ventures and individuals, some of which you can read about here.
2) What is Twist?
Right now, Twist is simply a Donor Advised Fund. Known often as a DAF, it provides a simpler way to invest philanthropic dollars than becoming an independent foundation straight away.
